Stepping into Dynaudio's new showroom on Møntergade, the city's hustle and bustle suddenly feels far away.
The space opens up under high ceilings and dark acoustic panels, while daylight filters through long curtains and falls softly over concrete, smoked oak, cork, and aluminum.
On the ground floor is the open showroom, where there is plenty of space and a pleasant sense of calm. A sculptural textile installation floats above the room, while low seating and custom-made furnishings create a more grounded contrast.
Dynaudio was founded in Denmark in 1977 and has spent decades refining the listening experience. The same care is evident in the interior design, where the architecture does not distract from what you have come to hear. On the contrary, the spaces are designed to give sound room, allowing you to immerse yourself in the music and hear even the smallest nuances.
Behind the curtains lies a more intimate listening lounge. Here, the lights are dimmed, the furniture is softer, and the textiles help create an enveloping atmosphere. Outside, life on Møntergade continues as usual. Bicycles pass by, doors open and close, and conversations fill the street. Inside, the senses settle. The eyes adjust to the subdued light, the body settles into the furniture, and the ear begins to pick up more details.
On the floor below, the quiet atmosphere continues in darker and more intimate surroundings. Smoked oak, cork, rugs, and upholstered furniture dampen the sound and give the rooms a special warmth.
The focus on the senses is reflected in the smaller details. The SP fixture contributes its own tactile experience. The compact handle fits comfortably in the hand, and the mechanism provides a pleasant resistance when operated. You can feel the cool surface of the metal, the weight of the handle, and the precision of the internal mechanism.
It is a small detail, but it fits naturally into a place where the senses have been considered from every angle. Where sound is experienced with the ear, the fixture is experienced through the hands. What they have in common is that their quality only truly comes to light when they are put to use.
